TN: 3 killed in blast at cracker unit

TUTICORIN (TN): Three persons were killed and one seriously injured in a blast at a cracker unit at Saathankulam area in the district, police said.

The incident, which took place at Vijayarajapuram in Sathankulam yesterday, was caused due to the friction caused when making the crackers, police said.

While three workers of the unit Murugan (42), Joseph (36), and Ebnezer(34) were killed on the spot, Ravi, the proprietor, was seriously injured, they said.

Meanwhile, the death toll in the fire that broke out in a cracker unit at Nathikudi near Sivakasi on Apr 26 rose to four with two more persons succumbing to injuries last night.

Three others were in a serious condition.
