Land fraud: Ex-Congress MP booked in TN

MADURAI: A former Congress Member of Parliament and five others have been booked under a case of alleged property fraud following the intervention of the Judicial Magistrate, police said.Former Congress MP Rajeswaran, who represented Ramanathapuram in the Lok Sabha, has been booked for allegedly forcing complainant Tirumalairaj, his brother-in-law, to bequeath properties worth about Rs one crore to him, police said.Tirumalairaj has claimed in his complaint that he was taken by force to the Tallakulam sub-registrar office here and forced to sign a gift deed in 2010 bequeathing properties in Madurai, Sivaganga and Virudhunagar, they said.Tirumalairaj had lodged a police complaint last year, but approached the Magistrate court when police allegedly did not take any action over it. The Magistrate in charge, Uma Maheswari, had recently ordered the police to file the case and enquire it.Besides Rajeswaran, his wife, son and three others have also been booked following the direction of the magistrate, police said.
