FOR the ruling BJP, the resignation of Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde is nothing more than a political issue. State BJP president K S Eshwarappa’s reaction was proof that the government does not want to acknowledge the seriousness of the development and was more concerned with the issue providing some “fodder” to the

Opposition.

“The government and the BJP have the utmost respect for Lokayukta. But the hurried manner in which he submitted his resignation has given scope for people to suspect politics behind his action,” he said.

He referred to the Opposition parties and said “the resignation has given the much needed fodder to leaders like Deve Gowda and Siddaramaiah”. On the delay in considering the Lokayukta’s demands, he said: “Settling family matters take time... Hegde should have little more patience. The issues needed deliberations.
