CM can’t induct 4 more ministers: Nanaiah

MADIKERI: JD(S) MLC M C Nanaiah urged Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to induct MLA Appachu Ranjan into his Cabinet, scheduled for November 3.He told reporters here on Monday that all communities, including Lingayats, Dalits and backward classes, have found a place in the Cabinet, whereas the Kodavas were sidelined.Hence, the Chief Minister should consider Appachu Ranjan in the Cabinet expansion, he added."According to Article 174 of the Constitution, the Cabinet of Ministers should be 15 per cent of the total MLAs. As of now, Karnataka Assembly has 225, where one is the Speaker. Of the 224 MLAs, 11 are disqualified and another five are facing disqualification," Nanaiah said."Moreover, three MLAs have resigned, hence the strength has come down to 205. According to Article 181(4) of the Constitution, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa can include only three more Ministers in his Cabinet," Nanaiah told reporters.
