Crime editor arrested

KOCHI: The Cyber Police in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday arrested Crime magazine chief editor T P Nandakumar on charges of defamation and sections under the IT Act. He was taken into custody from the Crime magazine office in Kochi and was taken to Thiruvananthapuram, the police said.The arrest was made following a complaint filed by Alexander, of Kaduthurthy, stating that Nandakumar published a defamatory article against him in the online edition of the magazine.The article in Crime magazine says that Alexander was involved in some fraud abroad, the complaint said.It is further alleged that Nandakumar demanded money for not publishing the article.It is learnt that Nandakumar was arrested based on the instructions of the DGP. “He has been charged with section 66 (A) of the IT Act. We have collected evidences from his office at Kaloor and Tripunithura,” an official with the Cyber Police said.
