Telugu TV actress held for fake attacks

HYDERABAD: The consecutive-day ‘attacks’ on television actors Sridhar Verma and Dimple are turning out to be a real life soap opera. Drama continues to unfold in the saga with ingredients of love, conspiracy, action and violence.

In a twist to the tale of attacks on the duo on June 8 and 9 respectively on the outskirts of the city, police today said Dimple was the conspirator behind the attack on Sridhar Verma.

It also came to light that she even staged the `attack’ on herself with the help of some associates. The Cyberabad police today arrested Dimple and her two associates, Mani and Nagaraj, and registered a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) against them.

Dimple claimed that she planned the attack on Sridhar Verma as he had refused to marry her after having had an afffair with her for two years.

Dimple also said Verma got a break in TV because of her.

The Kukatpally police said Dimple planned to take avenge against Sridhar Verma for ditching her and conspired with her assistant, Mani, who in turn took the help of her friend, Nagaraj, to carry out the plot.

Nagaraj purchased spirit two days before the attack on Sridhar Verma.

Along with his friend, Uday, he poured the spirit on Sridhar Verma’s face as he sat in his car at Nizampet road. However, the spirit did not cause much harm to Verma.

As Sridhar Verma recognized Nagaraj as the attacker, police took the latter into custody and started investigating the case.

“Fearing that her conspiracy would come into light, Dimple planned the attack on herself the very next day to mislead the police. Along with Mani, she orchestrated the attack at Manikonda on June 9.

She created a scene that Mani was attacked with chilli powder and later slit her hands with a blade and claimed before the police that she was attacked by an unidentified woman,’’ police said.

To throw the police off the scent, Dimple brought into the picture another television actor, Selvaraj, and alleged that the latter might be behind the attack as he bore a grudge that his television roles were taken away by Sridhar Verma.
