HYDERABAD: In a country where animal rights and welfare are not a priority, organizations that care for the sick, injured or homeless animals and fight for their rights are rare. But the Blue Cross of Hyderabad has been visiting many schools and educating students on animal rights and welfare through interesting presentations. One such presentation was made at the Oxford Grammar School, Himayathnagar by Amala Akkineni, founder of the Blue Cross of Hyderabad. Students listened in rapt attention as numerous slides on how animals help in everyday life, their importance in maintaining the ecosystem, their normal behaviour, body language of dogs, rights of animals and others were shown.Students were also instructed on how to contact the Blue Cross, in case they came across an injured animal. “I learnt a lot of new things on animal behavior from the presentation. The tips on how to be around dogs were very useful,” says Smera Modani, a Standard VI student.Amala Akkineni said, “The purpose of this presentation was to help mend the damaged human-animal relationship. We want children to love and trust animals.” At the end, students also took a pledge to never be cruel to animals and help them when in need.expresshyd@expressbuzz.com
