Flu claims season’s first victim in Kumari?

NAGERCOIL: A woman suspected of having contracted the Influenza A H1N1 otherwise called as swine flu and was admitted to the special ward at the Kanyakumari Government Medical College Hospital, Asaripalam died here on Monday.

Medical college sources said Virgin Mary (44) of Neroodi Thurai near the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border was admitted to the KGMCH four days ago. She was transferred on Sunday to the Influenza special ward with breathing difficulty and died on Monday morning without responding to treatment.

Meanwhile, the superintendent in-charge of the hospital said Mary had other complications too. “Her heart was weak and she also had lung related problems,” he added.

He said till date there were no suspected swine flu cases admitted at KGMCH.
