Celebrating diversity in life

CHENNAI: “We are all real people and not hypocrites,” says S Kalki, the founder of Sahodari Foundation who recently organised a photo exhibition at Alliance Française. Sahodari is a movement, a family and a team of young transsexual people. They put on display various activities of their organisation and articulate that diversity is the one thing they have in common and they celebrate it.

All the photos divulges their problems that they face in their daily life.

After the photo exhibition, they released seven postcards chosen from these pictures, each one portraying a slice of reality from their life. They are all in dire need of an opportunity to expose their talent but the society is yet to give them a chance.

Sahodari foundation has also started Liberation Performing Arts Troop.

They do not perform for cinematic music. Renowned writer Salma said that the Thirunangaigal are also human beings and they are more talented than us and we should recognise them.

Each photo displayed there reveals the inner feelings of these people.

“Spread the love, stop the hatred”, “Diversity is the one thing we have in common and we celebrate it”, “Heart to heart, we are same” and “We are honest people and we love everyone” are some of their works. “We fund our own work and make do with some small donations from friends and well wishers,” said Kalki and added, “Love is the ultimate thing that we expect from all.” Hate not these people who wish to come into the mainstream. After all they are also humans!
