CHENNAI: The  Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has detained four persons, including a CBI official, at the Chennai airport on  Sunday.

Airport sources said two persons, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police with the CBI wing at Nagpur, were at the airport on Sunday morning to receive two persons from Brussels, who reportedly arrived by a Jet Airways flight.

Officials of the DRI, who were at the airport, took away all the four persons for questioning and the interrogation reportedly went on for several hours.

It is alleged that they were held in connection with the smuggling of electronic items from the United States and the CBI official had reportedly misused his position to evade customs for the items.  However, the Additional-Director General of DRI C Rajan, denied any such arrest being made at the airport.
