BANGALORE: “You complain about my driving? I will show you how to drive the car,” a Bangalore-based builder, Sudeep K Agarwal, told the staff of Mercedes Benz showroom. What followed was a rampage: an angry Agarwal rammed his Mercedes car into to three other cars in the showroom. The showroom staff had some heart-stopping moments as the car, at times, veered perilously close to them. He was finally overpowered by the people there before he could make a Mercedes Benz CLK 350 — which costs about Rs 80 lakh and was on display — his next target. According to the police, Agarwal flew into a rage when one of the staffers at the showroom made a remark about his driving. The builder had bought the Mercedes two years ago and claimed that the car had a technical fault that was not being fixed. On Wednesday, Agarwal had come to the shop for service. According to the complaint filed by Jacob Epen Sam, deputy general manager of the showroom, Agarwal had demanded a spare car till his car was being repaired. However, since there was no spare available, he could not be provided one. An enraged Agarwal then threatened to ransack the showroom and warned the customer relations manager of dire consequences. Agarwal left the showroom after the staff refused to hand over the car. Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that Agarwal had complained of “left pull” in the car, and that repeated service had not rectified the fault. The police have summoned Agarwal for questioning.
