IX standard student commits suicide

BANGALORE: A ninth standard student who had failed in exams committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Anandapura sixth cross in Jeevanbima Nagar police limits on Friday.The police have identified the deceased as Jayaprakash (14). He was studying in ninth standard of Karnataka New English School which is nearby his home. His father Shivanesan is a painter and family hailed from Tamil Nadu.According to the police, Jayaprakash had written his exams and the resulted were announced on Friday. He went to the school and learnt that he had failed in a subject and returned home. His father called him to know the results and he had informed the same to him. As there were nobody at home, he hanged himself to the ceiling and ended his life. His mother and elder sister were also not at home when the incident occurred, the police said.Vijaya, the boy's neighbour, said that Shivanesan was very keen that his children should study well. "Shivanesan did not want his children to become like him and he always wanted to see them in good position. He had also borrowed loans to admit his children to good school. But, last year his elder daughter had failed in SSLC. This had depressed him and he was expecting much from Jayaprakash. Even, the latter was apparently depressed after his exams," she explained.
