BANGALORE: This February 14, don't be surprised if your Valentine decides to woo you over the phone. Yes, the latest in mobile applications is greeting cards that can be created on mobile phones.The Virtual Interactive Solid (VIS) has been developed by professors at the Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bangalore, and Stanford University in the United States of America.Called LoveCardz, it is all set to be launched before February 14 and will allow highly concise representation of 3D geometry with animation, interactivity, text and audio on mobile phones.Rajesh Jain, head of product development at 3DSoC - the company that is presently developing and providing the application, said there were over 5,00,000 downloads already with 100 themes available in the CardzCreator application."The application can be personalised in 3D," he said and added that the message, theme and layout could be changed to suit the need of the customer and hence make it a "unique card".He said the application can be downloaded for free and can be used on any mobile phones compatible with Java and Android operating systems available in the market."The creator of the card can view it in 3D and make the changes according to his needs, but the recipient will receive the same in 2D," he said.He said the company was making progress in ensuring that the recipient also was enabled to view it in 3D as well.Sharing the technicalities of the application, he said one card would consume about 1030 KB of space. He said the tariffs would be according to the user's telecom operator and not the company."We do not charge for our services as the download is free," Rajesh said and added that this would also give the customer virtual currency that he can use for his customised card.There are currently 2.5 lakh customers around the world for the product as the applications is available in 17 app stores in over 200 countries.The company is now pursuing the application to be compatible with Apple software as well.
