Government to open placement door

BANGALORE: Higher Education Minister Aravind Limbavali on Saturday said the government was preparing to facilitate campus interviews for professional colleges located in rural areas.Limbavalli was speaking during the inauguration of ‘Amruta Career Forum’, a career guidance workshop for engineering aspirants organised by Amruta Institute of Engineering and Management Sciences (AIeMS).He said, “While, campus interviews were done in cities like Hubli and Mangalore, which had excellent connectivity, students studying in colleges that did not have much connectivity were suffering. The government has made efforts to correct this situation from the current year”.The minister stated that the programme emphasised on the path chosen by students for the next four years and would help them network with companies working in that area. “This is an excellent idea and the government will try replicate this in other colleges,” he said.AIeMS Managing Trustee, Tejaswini Ananthkumar said, “A student usually has four choices after completing his engineering, either to join the corporate world, get into the service sector, join government services or become an entrepreneur. Our aim is to figure out student’s interests and open all possibilities in that area for them,” she said.
