Cracking a riddle

Last Updated : 12 Oct 2010

BANGALORE: Riddle of the Seventh Stone by Monideepa Sahu is a fantasy adventure novel for young readers.

The book, which was released amid fun activities of children at Reliance TimeOut in the city recently, is a fiction of different kind circling around landmarks of Bangalore with its important characters being a rat and spider.

Riddle of the Seventh Stone is a unique take on ordinary events and creatures. The author has named the character rat as Rishab and spider as Sashee for their humanoid form.

The story revolves around Rishabh and Shashee who are happy with their life, rummaging around in Venkat Thatha’s herbs shop. They stumble upon a magical powder and find themselves transformed into human children. The adventure begins as they start understanding the difficulties of children.

The transformation does not change their habits to which they are accustomed to despite attaining human identity.

It is a shear work of imagination that worked wonders in the form of fiction.

“Though I had plans to pen down a fiction long ago, it took years to make it to a reality. I had to knock the doors of many  publishers,” the author said.  Writer KR Usha released the book.
